Steve Trewhella is a diver and photographer, specialising in the photography of the British marine life above and below the waves.

For a number of years Steve has been a supporter and active volunteer for various marine conservation organisations , Activities have involved organising beach cleans and surveys, including a series of seafan surveys at Chesil Beach in Dorset which helped towards winning statutory protection for an area of rocky reefs in Lyme Bay. Steve is currently working towards achieving protection for seagrass meadows, seahorses and other marine wildlife in Studland Bay, Dorset.

 

 In 2007 he earned a Certificate of Merit from the RSPCA for ensuring the rescue of over 400 oiled seabirds resulting from the grounding of the MSC Napoli.

Steve is a keen naturalist with a particular interest in the coast and sea. When not diving he enjoys beachcombing, rockpooling and recording strandline and coastal invertebrates. As well as wildlife photography, his collection includes images showing human impact and activities in the marine and coastal environment. His photographs have been used by clients all over the world, in newspapers, magazines and books.

He has also worked as a contributor and expert on numerous television projects.
